| About the Course |
|
It is observed that people generally get confused between the term ‘mental retardation’ and ‘mental illness. The two however are different from each other primarily with regard to the level of intelligence. People with mental retardation have sub average intelligence whereas ones suffering with mental illnesses may have normal or high intelligence.
Mental Retardation occurs due to several factors including pre-natal, post-natal, and genetic factors. The level of intelligence varies from sub average to profound retardation. Diagnosis of the problem and its severity has its benefits in daily life management.
The course will help one to understand the types and levels of mental retardation, its causal factors and basic screening and diagnosis. |
